Plagiarism Policy

The Global Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (GJMPS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, ethical publishing, and responsible scientific communication.

The journal strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism, unethical publication practices, and scientific misconduct. Authors are expected to submit only original work that has not been copied, duplicated, or improperly reproduced from other published or unpublished sources.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • copying text, ideas, images, tables, or data without proper citation

  • presenting another person’s work as one’s own

  • duplicate publication

  • self-plagiarism

  • paraphrasing without appropriate acknowledgment

  • unauthorized use of copyrighted material

  • data fabrication or falsification

Any manuscript containing plagiarized material will be considered unethical and unacceptable for publication.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts may undergo plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software before peer review and publication.

The editorial office evaluates:

  • similarity percentage

  • inappropriate text overlap

  • copied content

  • duplicate publication concerns

  • unethical reuse of previously published material

Authors are strongly encouraged to check their manuscripts for plagiarism before submission.

Acceptable Similarity Limits

Minor text similarity arising from:

  • references

  • common scientific terminology

  • standard methodology descriptions

may be acceptable when properly cited.

However, excessive similarity or substantial copied content may result in:

  • immediate rejection

  • return for correction

  • editorial investigation

The editorial office reserves the right to determine whether similarity levels are acceptable.

Self-Plagiarism

Authors must avoid self-plagiarism, including:

  • reuse of previously published text

  • duplicate submission of the same research

  • redundant publication without proper disclosure

Any overlap with previously published work must be clearly cited and disclosed during submission.

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism or research misconduct is identified at any stage of the editorial or publication process, the journal may take appropriate actions including:

  • manuscript rejection

  • request for revision or clarification

  • withdrawal of accepted manuscripts

  • publication retraction

  • notification to authors’ institutions or funding agencies

  • temporary or permanent submission restrictions

The severity of the action will depend on the extent and nature of the misconduct.

COPE Guidelines

The journal follows the ethical principles and procedures recommended by the:

  • Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

  • International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)

Cases of suspected plagiarism or misconduct are handled according to internationally accepted publication ethics guidelines.

Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for:

  • ensuring originality of submitted work

  • providing accurate citations and references

  • obtaining permissions for copyrighted materials

  • maintaining academic and scientific integrity

By submitting a manuscript to GJMPS, authors confirm that the work is original and free from plagiarism or unethical publication practices.
