The Global Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (GJMPS) recognizes the growing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and writing. The journal provides the following guidelines to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical use of AI technologies in scholarly publishing.
Authors may use generative AI tools to assist with language editing, grammar improvement, or formatting. However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the content in their manuscripts.
AI-generated text must be carefully reviewed and verified by the authors to ensure that it does not contain inaccurate information, fabricated references, or misleading statements.
If generative AI tools have been used during manuscript preparation, authors must clearly disclose this in the Acknowledgments or Methods section of the manuscript.
Example disclosure statement:
"The authors used an AI-assisted tool to improve language clarity and grammar during manuscript preparation. The authors reviewed and take full responsibility for the final content."
Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. Authorship must be limited to individuals who meet accepted authorship criteria and who can take responsibility for the work.
If AI tools are used for data analysis, image generation, or research-related tasks, authors must clearly describe the methods and tools used in the manuscript to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscript content to generative AI tools or third-party AI platforms, as this may compromise the confidentiality of the peer review process.
The journal expects authors to use AI tools responsibly and ethically in accordance with international publishing guidelines and standards recommended by COPE and ICMJE.
Failure to disclose the use of generative AI tools or misuse of AI-generated content may result in manuscript rejection or corrective action after publication.
